Marobo Farm

Ploughing at MoroboThe Savannah Farmers Cooperative farm at Morobo was started in 2001, before the Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed (Jan. 9, 2005) between the Khartoum Regime and the Sudan Peoples LiberationContainer to be delivered at Marobo Movement in the south of Sudan.

Under the management of Isaac Onyinda, a former airline pilot, land was cleared, planted and harvested in limited amounts. The farm is located on the main road from the border town of Kaya, to the ruined city of Yei. The condition of that road has been a severe impediment, not just to Morobo SFC farm, but to all the farms. A trip of only 40 km can take many hours. Heavy, forty ton trucks use that road daily, Pastor Stanley and Caland until that road is eventually paved, it will be a bottle-neck to all commerce.

The former Manager, Mr. Isaac Onyinda, died of cancer in early 2006.

Pastor Stanley Lonathan Onion Crophas taken on the Management, and has produced a bumper crop this past rainy season. A farm compound with buildings is established for administration, crop storage and equipment security. An expansion of 100 new acres is underway for the next two rainy seasons. It will be self-sustaining by the end of 2007. All the local grain crops are grown at Morobo, onions and cabbage and other vegetables grow exceptionally well. With returning refugees, market gardening is essential.
